North West London, 40m2 roof terrace, design & project management

The brief for this roof terrace was to design a flexible space for entertaining.

A key consideration as with all roof terraces on older buildings, are the limitations to the weight loadings one can put on the roofing timbers. Therefore all materials and planting have to be designed to minimize the stress on the roof structure. The solution in this case was hardwood timber decking, cedar trellis and lightweight stainless-steel planters.
